
📝 Ingredients:
For the beef layer:
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 small onion, diced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 (15 oz) can diced tomatoes (drained slightly)
- 1 (8 oz) can tomato sauce
- 1 tsp Italian seasoning
- Salt & pepper to taste
For the creamy layer:
- 1 cup sour cream
- 4 oz cream cheese (softened)
- 1/2 cup chopped green onions (optional)
For the pasta & topping:
- 8 oz egg noodles (or elbow macaroni), cooked and drained
- 1 1/2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
- 1/2 cup shredded mozzarella (optional for extra gooeyness)
👩🍳 Instructions:
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Lightly grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
- Cook the beef mixture:
- In a large skillet, brown the ground beef with diced onion over medium heat until fully cooked. Drain excess fat.
- Add garlic, diced tomatoes, tomato sauce, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper. Let simmer for 10–15 minutes.
- Make the creamy layer:
- In a medium bowl, blend sour cream, cream cheese, and green onions until smooth.
- Assemble the casserole:
- Spread half the cooked noodles in the bottom of the dish.
- Dollop and spread half of the creamy mixture over the noodles.
- Add half the meat sauce.
- Repeat layers with remaining noodles, cream mixture, and meat sauce.
- Sprinkle cheddar (and mozzarella, if using) evenly over the top.
- Bake uncovered for 25–30 minutes or until cheese is bubbly and golden.
- Let rest 5–10 minutes before serving.
