Homemade Cheesy Pizza Pockets with Marinara Dip
Ingredients:
2 cups all-purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon salt
3/4 cup warm water
2 tablespoons olive oil
1/2 cup pizza sauce
1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
1/4 cup chopped pepperoni or cooked sausage (optional)
1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
Additional fillings: chopped bell peppers, mushrooms, olives (optional)
Directions:
In a large bowl, whisk together the flour and salt.
In a separate bowl, mix the warm water and olive oil. Gradually add this mixture to the flour, stirring until a dough forms.
Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5 minutes until smooth. Cover and let it rest for 10 minutes.
Divide the dough into 8–10 equal portions. Roll each portion into a 6-inch circle.
On one half of each circle, spread 1 tablespoon of pizza sauce, sprinkle 2 tablespoons of mozzarella cheese, and add desired fillings.
Fold the dough over the fillings to create a half-moon shape. Press the edges together and crimp with a fork to seal.
Place the pockets on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Brush the tops with the beaten egg.
Bake in a preheated oven at 425°F (220°C) for 12–15 minutes, or until golden brown.
Allow to cool slightly before serving. Enjoy with extra marinara sauce for dipping!
