Preparing the Filling

  1. Sauteing the VegetablesIn a skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add sliced onions, bell peppers, and mushrooms. Cook until soft and caramelized, about 10-15 minutes.Ensure the vegetables are well-cooked to enhance the flavors of the filling.
  2. Adding the Steak and SeasoningPush the vegetables to the side of the skillet and add thinly sliced steak. Season with salt, pepper, and Italian seasoning. Cook until the steak is browned.Choose a tender cut of steak for a juicy and flavorful filling.

Assembling the Stromboli

  1. Rolling Out the DoughOn a floured surface, roll out the pizza dough into a rectangle. Make sure it’s not too thin to hold the filling. You can use store-bought pizza dough for convenience.
  2. Layering the IngredientsSpread marinara sauce over the dough. Add the cooked steak and vegetable mixture on top. Sprinkle shredded mozzarella cheese generously over the filling.Leave some space around the edges to seal the Stromboli properly.
  3. Rolling and SealingCarefully roll the dough into a log, tucking in the sides as you go. Seal the edges by pinching them together.Sealing the Stromboli well will prevent the filling from leaking out during baking.

Baking and Serving

  1. Baking the StromboliPlace the Stromboli on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Brush the top with egg wash for a golden crust. Bake in a preheated oven at 400°F (200°C) for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown.Keep an eye on the Stromboli towards the end to prevent over-browning.
  2. Slicing and EnjoyingLet the Stromboli cool slightly before slicing into rounds. Serve warm with extra marinara sauce for dipping. The cheesy, steak-filled Stromboli is best enjoyed fresh out of the oven.

Note

– Make sure the dough is rolled out thin to ensure the stromboli cooks evenly and has a nice crust.
– Feel free to add extra toppings like sautéed mushrooms, bell peppers, or pepperoni for a twist.
– Brushing the stromboli with garlic butter before baking adds extra flavor and a beautiful golden color.
– Let the stromboli rest for a few minutes after baking to allow the cheese to set slightly before slicing.
– Serve with warm marinara sauce on the side for dipping, it complements the flavors perfectly.
– Leftover stromboli can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 3 days and reheated in the oven for a crispy crust.
– For a lighter version, use whole wheat pizza dough and low-fat mozzarella cheese.
